FAQs about Pre-employment Medical Examination

Dedicated employers take their work seriously and know their responsibility well. This means they are aware of the risks that other employees might carry and deal with them properly to avoid any kind of injury to their colleagues at the work place.
It is essential in certain industries and workplaces to ensure their employees meet the national criteria required for the industry in which they are employed/seeking employment.

Our medical practitioner will asses the injury caused and find out if there are further risks to be managed at the work place, if there are, these will be mentioned and the risks will be mitigated, if there is ongoing treatment required, we are happy to facilitate this.

It is important that you answer all the questions to the practitioner honestly about your past medical history. Make sure you are not in a position that may cause harm or injury to yourself or your colleagues that your employer or examining physician doesn’t know about.

Yes, you need to bring a photo ID like your driving license to your appointment. You will not be able to conduct medical check-up without it. If you wear prescription glasses, hearing aids or lenses, don’t forget to bring them with you.

The medical evaluation will depend on the demands of the organisation and job profile as to what tests you will need to undergo. In all cases, you will have to fill out a questionnaire and have a physical examination to ensure that you are absolutely fit.

You may be asked to perform urine drug screening for alcohol or banned drugs. These may include – opiates, amphetamines, cannabinoids, benzodiazepines, methamphetamines, sleeping tablets. Cannabis might stay within the body for several days, if it is used regularly for weeks and it could also be detected if used occasionally.
